Charlotte is a London-based set, costume and production designer, she is a graduate of the design course at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Australia.
Charlotte's design style is visually striking, bold and conceptual. It is non naturalistic and abstract, drawing inspiration from the every day but reorganising, exaggerating or twisting it into something more representational. She is an essentialist - everything earns its place on stage, with a great love of reveals, surprises and stage magic. By building in reveals and surprises Charlotte can change and enhance the story, so the design is a constant part of the experience. She likes to use real textures to create a tangible reality, however abstract the concept.
Currently, Charlotte is delighted to be designing The Girl on the Train for The Barn Theatre.
Charlotte’s film credits include work on Wes Anderson’s latest film Isle of Dogs and the award winning short film A Cautionary Tail.
Charlotte is always on the look out for new projects and collaborators, with a particular focus on new writing or contemporary adaptations of classic texts. Her work is contemporary, experimental, future focused and diverse, please get in touch if you’d like to collaborate.
